Homeless charity reaches new patients with games

The Third Annual Homeless Games, held in Liverpool during September, brought a new opportunity for Vision Care for Homeless People to reach those who need help with vision.

The two day event was generously supported by Optoplast with a donation of frames and ready readers, glazing by Hoya and mobile equipment loaned by The Outside Clinic.

In conjunction with Crisis Merseyside, the Vision Care for Homeless People team dispensed 21 pairs of single vision lenses, five pairs or bifocals and three pairs of ready readers.

As Shaneela Chana, VCHP Organiser explained –

“The majority who took part in the games were under 25 and living in hostels which really brought to light their vulnerability. It was very worthwhile attending and to be able to highlight the charity in this part of the country.”
