We have a new fundraising strategy focused on individual and corporate donations. We also have an operational improvement plan to get the best out of our existing clinics so we reach more homeless people.

To move our plans forward, we are recruiting to two part time posts: a fundraiser initially on a six month contract and a manager of volunteer operations on a three year contract. They will be joining three part time staff – General Manager, Administrator and Optometrist plus over a hundred volunteers.

If you know of anyone who may be interested, here is the link to VCHP on Charity Job which has the job adverts and job descriptions at the bottom of the page.

Closing date for the Manager of Volunteer Operations is 10am on Monday 12th June 2017.
Closing date for the Fundraiser is 10 am on Monday 19th June 2017.

We are always looking for volunteer Optometrists and Dispensing Opticians for our clinics:
London – Monday and Wednesday mornings and afternoons
Brighton – Thursday mornings (clinic open every fortnight)
Birmingham – Monday mornings
Manchester – Monday mornings

We need regional ambassadors who are keen to promote the charity message, and to raise much needed funds for Vision Care for Homeless People.

VCHP has grown to provide clinics in Birmingham, London, Brighton and Manchester. New centres are envisaged in other locations when funds and volunteers are in place to support them. We are keen to hear from people – perhaps not from optics – who are keen to raise awareness in schools, clubs and in communities which might fundraise for us. We are very open minded for them to organise and promote events according to their own inclinations and skills. The experience of putting together charitable bids would also be a significant advantage.

Volunteer clinic managers who can support optical professionals to run clinics on a regular basis are sought. You will be organising appointments, recording patients’ details, helping them choose and fit spectacles and generally making everything run smoothly. You do not need to be in the optical industry – we will train you. The satisfaction you will feel after a half day clinic, having helped a homeless person feel safer, access learning or take an important step towards securing a job, cannot be beaten.
