Vision Care for Homeless People has appointed David Brown as the first General Manager, signalling the intention to expand the charity.
Now operating in London, Birmingham, Brighton and Manchester, the appointment confirms the charity’s desire to provide eye care and glasses to the dispossessed in other UK cities.
David has broad experience within the charity sector to draw upon, and relevant knowledge of grant making foundations.Building contacts within the optical sector was aided by the charity’s presence at Optrafair, as David said – “It was a major opportunity to meet with the profession and sponsors, during the three days of the show. We were delighted with the response, with several visitors pledging to run clinics for us at the different locations around the country. This makes the world of difference as we rely on volunteersfor a whole range of professional services and fundraising. We are very keen to hear from anyone who has time or experience to offer.”
David made a series of presentations at Optrafair on the work of the charity, and the film has now been viewed by several hundred people.
