VCHP attend the QNI Homeless Health Conference

VCHP were pleased to be exhibit and attending the Queen’s Nursing Institute Nursing for all Homeless Health Conference. 160 people attended from around the world to share their experiences of working with and helping homeless people. The day focused on supporting the health of people at most risk of health inequity, about creative and different solutions to meet current challenges, and at supporting people throughout their lives. @TheQNI #nursingforall

We listened to a presentation by Duncan Selby, Chief Executive of Public Health England about improving the coordination of services to the homeless population who have such great inequality of access to health care. @phe_uk

Two young inspirational people took to the stage to talk about how they have turned their lives around and it certainly brought a tear to most eyes in the audience. Holi and Hajra from The National Youth Reference Group shared their life experiences and explained how they are working to helping and support others to make change happen. @youth_reference

We heard from Kevin Jaffray who is an independent trainer and consultant who works in the substance misuse field and housing sector supporting those with complex needs. He approaches his work with passion and perseverance driver by his own personal experience of addiction and homelessness. Futuremoves @drugactivist
In the afternoon, Lord Victor Adebowale CBE from Turning Point spoke about their services working with people with complex needs including those affected by substance misuse, mental health issues, unemployment, housing issues, offending behaviour and those with a learning disability.
