Christmas support sought

Vision Care for Homeless People, working in conjunction with Crisis at Christmas, is stepping up its service this December with a mission to provide more eye examinations and glasses in the capital this year. Volunteers are eagerly sought to support the growing number of dispossessed people in the capital.

Vision Care for Homeless People provides the optometry and dispensing services for up to 250 people each year during the festive period. Shaneela Chana, Service Organiser, is urging more optometrists and dispensing opticians to give up some of their free time to volunteer for the service, which will run from 23-29 December.

“This is very worthwhile work, at a time when many people need support. Just a few hours of volunteering can make a tremendous difference to other people’s lives,” she said.
