Thank you very much to Nala, one of the volunteers in Exeter, who put us forward.
Homelessness is an issue which is very close to the heart of Exeter, with recent figures reporting Exeter with one of the highest rates of rough sleepers in the UK. Through the work of our volunteers, we aim to preserve, protect and promote the ocular health of people who are homeless, who are unable to access mainstream services available through the NHS. For some, it is simply a case of providing glasses to help them to see better, but for others we can detect serious pathology which needs treatment.
