VISION CARE CLINICS
We run weekly clinics across the UK, based in homeless service centres. Fully equipped eye testing rooms are staffed by volunteer Optometrists, Dispensing Opticians, and Optical Assistants.
These clinics provide eye exams, glasses, and referrals to specialist care when needed, all in a welcoming and safe environment.

MOBILE VISION SERVICES
Alongside our clinics, we are developing mobile services to bring eye care directly to people where they are. Facilitating domiciliary teams to visit shelters, day centres, and temporary accommodation, providing eye examinations, spectacles and referrals.
By delivering eye care through mobile and domiciliary services, we reduce barriers and make it easier for more people to access the support they need.
ADVOCACY
Vision Care advocates for systemic change to ensure everyone experiencing homelessness can access eye care. This includes:
- Strengthening referral and care pathways between homeless healthcare providers and Vision Care clinics
- Contributing to joined-up approaches across the health and social care landscape
- Working with policymakers to drive change within GOS regulations and national frameworks
Our advocacy aims to ensure that eye care is accessible to everyone who needs it, regardless of their housing situation.
EDUCATION
Through training and guidance, we aim to build a wider network of practitioners who can make eye care accessible and inclusive. Our education programme includes:
- Developing and delivering engaging training sessions and resources for optical professionals and homelessness organisations
- Partnering with UK optometry schools to embed awareness of homelessness and inclusive care into curricula
- Raising awareness of available services across the optical and homelessness sectors
By equipping the sector with knowledge and practical tools, we help ensure that eye care reaches those who need it most.
